Kolter, Richard D. (Richard Dawes), b. 1926.
1st Lieutenant (1LT) Richard D. Kolter enlisted in the U.S. Navy Reserves and was called to active duty on 20 September 1944. He was discharged from the Navy on 15 April 1946 and attended the University of Tennessee Reserve Officers' Training Corps (ROTC) program. He was commissioned as a 1st lieutenant in the U.S. Army Reserves on 2 June 1949. Kolter was activated on 12 February 1951 and attended a chemical, biological and radiological (CBR) course in Japan in January 1952. He arrived in Korea in early February 1952 as a replacement in the 45th Armored Reconnaissance Company, 45th Infantry Division. Kolter returned to Japan in August 1952 and was reassigned to the 56th Amphibious Tank and Tractor Battalion. He was discharged from the U.S. Army Reserve on 15 March 1958.
