University Lutheran Church (Seattle, Wash.)

What is now University Lutheran Church began with a canvass of the area by Mission Pastor Schoenberg in August of 1916. Formal organization took place March 18, 1917. The present location was purchased on November 25, 1923. The first structure, called “The Little Church on the Green”, was dedicated Palm Sunday, April 10, 1927. It was razed in July of 1965 to make room for the Office and Education Unit, dedicated on Palm Sunday, 1967, the 50th anniversary year. Membership at the close of 1985 numbered 1036 baptized, 747 confirmed. Lying adjacent to the University of Washington, the congregation has a long-time ministry to students and has always supported campus Christian Ministry.
