Translator and author. Levine was born in 1946 in New York City. Levine is a freelance translator and author, a professor of Spanish and Portuguese as well as a lecturer on literary translation at numerous universities across the country. She has translated authors Adolfo Bioy-Casares, Guillermo Cabrera Infante, Julio Cortazar, Carlos Fuentes and others. She was translator and friend of Manuel Puig and wrote his biography Manuel Puig and the Spider Woman: His Life and Fictions (Farrer, Straus, and Giroux: New York, 2000).
