William Willard Ashe, son of Samuel A'Court and Hannah Emerson Willard Ashe, was an active forester and botanist. He was forester for the the North Carolina Geological Survey, 1898 1905, and served with the United States Forest Service in Washington, D.C., 1905-1932.
