Catherine Stanley (nee Leycester) was born in 1792, daughter of the Reverend Oswald Leycester, rector of Stoke-upon-Terne. In 1810, she married the rector at Alderley, Edward Stanley, younger brother of John Thomas Stanley, first Baron Stanley of Alderley. In 1837, her husband was appointed bishop of Norwich, holding the see until his death in 1849. She died in 1862.
