Peter Van Gaasbeek (1754-1797) was born in Ulster Co., N.Y., on 27 September 1754. He was a man of prominence in the state, engaging in mercantile pursuits in Kingston, N.Y. During the American Revolution, he was a captain and major in the Ulster County Militia. Van Gaasbeek was elected, as an Anti-Federalist, to the Third Congress. He died in Kingston in 1797.
