D'Youville College is an independent, urban, coeducational institution. Founded by the Grey Nuns in 1908 as the first college for women in Western New York, it amended its charter in 1971 to come under the control of a lay board of trustees. It became coeducational at that time.
Accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools, D'Youville is known not only for its strong liberal arts programs but for its professional preparation, especially in education, nursing, physical and occupational therapy, dietetics, social work, and business education. Several of these are five-year programs leading to the B.S./M.S. degrees.
D'Youville serves more than 1800 graduate and undergraduate students. It is also home to the distinguished Kavinoky Theatre, and provides a broad Continuing Education Program.
