Born in Pensacola, Mr. Blount attended St. John's Military Academy in Delafield, Wisconsin and Horner's Military School in Oxford, North Carolina graduating from the latter in 1907. He became bookkeeper for the Pensacola Investment Company and studied law in his father's office (A. C. Blount, Jr.).
From 1913 until 1917, Mr. Blount practiced law, first as a collections attorney and then as a law agent for the Louisville and Nashville Railroad. During this time, he became active in civic affairs serving as President of the Pensacola Carnival Association in 1916, and in 1917 he married Mary Ida Saunders. He was also Captain in the National Guard, becoming a Captain in the U. S. Infantry during World War I.
In 1919, Mr. Blount joined the Watson Agency and in 1921 was named secretary-treasurer of the Mutual Building and Loan Association. Although the only employee of this savings and loan, it eventually became the First Mutual Federal Savings and Loan of Pensacola. In 1948, Mr. Blount married Viola Ard in Atlanta, Georgia; she was the daughter of Mrs. Clara Ard.
In 1959, Mr. Blount was named Chairman of the Board of First Mutual and in 1975 was named Chairman Emeritus at the age of 84.
Among his civic activities were service as a Director of Gulf Power Company, the Visiting Nurse Association of Pensacola; he was also President of the Pensacola Chamber of Commerce (1930-1932), the Pensacola Civic Music Association (1932-1933), the Gulf Coast Council of Boy Scouts (1929-1931), the Florida Savings Building & Loan League (1933, 1940), and the Pensacola Rotary Club (1937-1938). He was a member of the City Council from 1943-1945 and a chairman of its zoning committee. He was active in the Masonic organizations. he was also past commander of the Frank Marston american Legion Post and President for three years of the community Chest (United Way).
*Mr. Blount is the son of Judge Alexander Clement Blount, Jr. (1860-1923) and Clara Dorr; His grandfather was Alexander Clement Blount (1816-1912). At least one source indicated him as A. C. Blount, III and early correspondence, while his father was living, are addressed as A. c. Blount, Jr.
