Stuart, David, 1816-1868

David Stuart, a Highland Scotchman, was an uncle of Robert Stuart (d. 1848) and accompanied his nephew on the 1912 expedition to found Columbia River posts for Astor. David established another post several hundred miles up the river. When the Stuart family built a house on Jefferson Avenue in Detroit, David lived with them. He died before 1848.
