Cone, Benjamin, 1899-1982
Variant namesBenjamin Cone was born in 1899, a member of the prominent Cone family of Greensboro, N.C. He was a friend of Thomas Wolfe while both were students at the University of North Carolina. Cone graduated from the University of North Carolina in 1920; he was mayor of Greensboro, 1949-1951.
