In her manuscript autobiography, DKC describes her childhood in Keene, New Hampshire, where she was born in 1906. She attended Boston University, was graduated from Wellesley College and did graduate work at Radcliffe. A large part of the manuscript concerns her experiences in working for the War Department (later Department of Defense) both in the United States and abroad, in administrative positions at Wellesley and Radcliffe, and as assistant to the Dean of Women at Spelman College in Atlanta. She provides insights into the position of women in academe in the first half of this century, and discusses at length the years of caring for her father, Charles Wilder Clark, during the last part of his life.
