Lee McNeely was the Federal Court Clerk of the Northern District of Iowa from 1912-1957. He was born in Pennsylvania in 1876 and moved to Dubuque in 1897 when he became private secretary to U.S. Representative David B. Henderson of Iowa. He worked for several representatives and for Senator William B. Allison. McNeely homesteaded in South Dakota from 1908-1910, where he also served as a postmaster in McNeely and editor of the Winner, South Dakota Journal newspaper.
