Alaska historical society
The Alaska Historical Society was reconstituted in 1967 as a result of renewed interest in Alaskan history resulting from the Alaska Purchase Centennial. The society is governed by a board of directors, and has a president, vice president, secretary and treasurer. The society holds annual meetings, sponsors seminars, and publishes a newsletter "Alaska History News" (first issued in 1968), and a journal "Alaska History" (first issued in 1984).
