Born January 18, 1919 in Portland, Oregon. Graduated Oregon State University, Engineering degree. Served as 1st Lieutenant in the 10th Mountain Division, 126th Mountain Engineers. Also member of the Oregon National Guard (1940-1942), Amphibious Support Regiment during Korean Conflict, Army Reserves (1946-1951, 1954-1962).
