Dr. Henry Sewall (1855-1936) was Professor of Medicine at the University of Colorado (Professor Emeritus, 1925). Sewall received his B.S. at Wesleyan and his Ph.D at Johns Hopkins (1879). He was Professor of Physiology at the University of Michigan (1882-1889), Professor of Physiology at the University of Denver (1890-1908), and Professor of Medicine in the University of Colorado Medical School (1911-1918). Sewall was instrumental in the organization of the Colorado Medical Library Association in 1893. In 1909-1910, Sewall served as vice president of the National Tuberculosis Association and, in 1914, president of the American Climatological Association and vice president of the Association of American Physicians. He was author of A Topical Synopsis of Lectures on Animal Physiology [1882]; A Historical Sketch of the Medical Department of the University of Colorado [1925]; and Society and the Natural Law: a Plea for the Study of Biological Adaptations as an Inspiration for Social Mechanics [1933].
