Jonathan Hastings (2 August 1751-8 March 1831) was the first son of Jonathan and Elizabeth Cotton Hastings of Cambridge, MA. The elder Hastings was Justice of the Peace and Steward of Harvard College. The son Jonathan graduated from Harvard in 1768, was appointed Postmaster on the resignation of James Winthrop in 1775. Moving to Boston, he married Christina Wainwright on 24 November 1780. They had six children, four of whom died early. He continued as postmaster in Boston until 1808. Hastings died on 8 March 1831.
