Independent Order of Odd Fellows. Farmington, Wash.
Organized in 1819 as a fraternal beneficiary society, the IOOF promotes humanitarian and financial awards, particularly for educational purposes. IOOF lodges appeared early in frontier communities and provided an important social gathering opportunity for men of all occupations. By the late 1890s the IOOF was one of at least five fraternal societies in Farmington, WA.
