Betty R Easson studied for her MA at the University of Glasgow between 1946-1950 . In her first year at University she studied Ordinary History, Ordinary Scottish History, and Ordinary English. In her first term of the Ordinary History class she was taught by Professor Browning which was his last year of teaching the first year class. In her second year she studied Higher History, Higher English, and Ordinary Political Economy.
She then went on to specialise in History for her Honours years. In her Junior Honours year she studied Medieval History taught by Dr Stones, and Constitutional History taught by Dr Chrimes. She also took the British History module offered by the English Department. In her Senior Honours year she studied the Tudors and the Stewarts taught by Professor Browning. Her special subject was Britain and the Middle East between the Wars taught by Esmond Wright and it was upon this subject that she wrote her dissertation. Betty's finals consisted of ten papers. She was awarded her degree in 1950 . Betty continued to study at the University taking the one year Diploma in Education in 1950-1951 . During this year she also studied an Ordinary Psychology course.
After university, Ms Easson went on to Jordanhill Teaching College, to train as a history teacher. Her first teaching job was at Glasgow High School for Girls in 1951 . In 1961 she moved on to become the Principal Teacher in History at Woodside School. In 1966 she joined the staff at Jordanhill. In 1979 she took early retirement.
