In 1960, Michigan Technological University established the Daniell Heights Apartments to better serve the University₂s housing needs and meet the demands of its students. Since then, thousands of students, faculty, staff, and their families have called Daniell Heights home. The apartments at Michigan Technological University Housing allow students to live outside of the residence halls while still living on the ever-growing campus. Daniell Heights was originally built for married students but over the years, not only were married students allowed to live in the apartments, but single students as well.
Daniell Heights (originally called Sheldon Heights) was designed by Yamasaki & Associates, perhaps better known for their design of the World Trade Center Towers in New York City. In 1965, a second phase was added to Daniell Heights. This addition was designed by Tarapata-MacMahon Associates and is located just east of the original apartment buildings.
