Smylie, James, 1780-1853
Variant namesRev. James Smylie was a planter and Presbyterian minister of southwest Mississippi. His daughter, Amelia, married Joseph Addison Montgomery, a Natchez merchant, a Mississippi planter and a New Orleans commission merchant. Montgomery was the son of Rev. William Montgomery, the pastor of Ebenezer and Union Presbyterian churches in Jefferson County, Miss.
