The Anne Spencer Memorial Foundation, Inc., was formed to assist in preserving and maintaining the Virginia Historic Landmark known as The Anne Spencer House, including the main house, Edenkraal (the one room cottage-study), the garden, and related properties, as a museum and research center. The group also developed educational programs dealing with Anne Spencer, her life, her poetry, her friends, as well as the sociological and cultural framework of which she was an integral part. It also promoted and encouraged the development of poets and writers through sponsorship of writing contests in local schools.
