Gladys Taylor Hodges West of Dover, North Carolina was a student of the North Carolina State Normal and Industrial College (now The University of North Carolina at Greensboro), attending during the 1917-18 academic year. Due to the illness of both her parents, West was needed at home to care for her four younger siblings and was unable to return to the college. In January 1920, she married George E. West. Together they had three daughters who all graduated from the Woman's College of the University of North Carolina. Lottie Faye West Warren graduated in 1941, Mary Ellen West in 1943, and Rebecca West Hook in 1945. Gladys Taylor Hodges West died May 1996.
