Born in Austin, Texas, Charles William Ramsdell, Jr. (1909-1973), was the son of Charles William Ramsdell, Sr. (1877-1942), and Susanna Griffith. Like his father, Ramsdell attended the University of Texas at Austin and was an historian. A prolific writer, he authored San Antonio, a Historical and Pictorial Guide (1959), as well as many articles on Texas history. Ramsdell worked at the National Park Service and as a staff writer for the San Antonio Express Magazine . On June 13, 1933, Ramsdell married Josephine Miller Bramlett (1905-1957), with whom he had one son, Charles Michael Ramsdell.
