Aunspaugh family.
Frederick Aunspaugh was born 17 September 1870 in Liberty, now Bedford, Va., to Robert T. Aunspaugh and Anne Clayton Aunspaugh.
In 1898, Aunspaugh moved to Norfolk, Virginia. He worked as an agent in Virginia and North Carolina for Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company.
He married Ruth McCoy of Suffolk County, Va., and Gates County, N.C., in 1906. Later that year, they had a daughter, Ruth, also called Doll.
From 1917 to 1931, Aunspaugh had his own insurance business with his brother. In 1925, he moved the headquarters and his family to Raleigh, N.C. After he retired from the insurance business, Aunspaugh went into real estate. He is noted for being one of the original organizers of the first Morris Plan Bank. He was also active in Sons of the American Revolution in Virginia, and was an avid stamp collector.
The Aunspaugh's daughter, Ruth, was a debutant in Raleigh in 1926; was graduated from Sweet Briar College in Virginia in 1927; and married Frank Daniels of Raleigh on 20 November 1929. They had two children: Frank, Jr., and Patsy. Ruth Aunspaugh Daniels was active in the Junior League and in the War Bond Drive during World War II.
In April 1943, Ruth McCoy Aunspaugh died. Frederick Aunspaugh died 30 June 1951. Ruth Aunspaugh Daniels died 24 October 1985.
