Duluth and Winnipeg Railroad Company.
The company was incorporated in 1878 and was alternately controlled by a variety of local and Eastern interests until largely acquired by the Canadian Pacific in 1893, by which time it had completed 100 miles of rail line running from South Duluth northwest to Deer River (Minn.). After passing into receivership in 1894, the company was acquired by Great Northern interests. It was reorganized in 1896 as the Duluth, Superior and Western Railway.
