Jerdone family.
Francis Jerdone, born in Scotland, came to Virginia about 1750. A merchant in Louisa County, he built Jerdone Castle ca. 1752, and acquired large holdings in Albermarle, Spotsylvania, and Louisa counties. His son, Francis Jr., took over the family business upon his father's death. Elizabeth Macauley is his sister.
