Women's arts organization organized in Boulder, Colo. at the University of Colorado in 1974. Purpose was to encourage and promote art by women and to find professional acceptance in the male dominated art world. An inaugural celebration was sponsored: Colorado Women in the Arts, May 1979, with programs, exhibits, dance and music performances, lectures, and poetry readings held statewide. May 1979 was also declared Women in the Arts Month by Colo. Governor Richard Lamm.
