Waring, Thomas, 1778-1868.

Hide Profile

Thomas Truman Greenfield Waring was born in Maryland in 1778. He was a minister in the Methodist Episcopal Church (South) and served as a Kentucky state representative for Greenup County in 1819. The letter was written seven months after the Methodist Episcopal Church split into North and South Conferences over the issue of slavery. Following Waring's disappearance in Elizabethtown, Kentucky, in 1848, his wife, Nancy, was awarded $5,000 by the Nautilus Insurance Co. of New York for a life insurance policy taken by her husband. Waring apparently was still living and eventually died ca. 1868.
