Hide Profile

John and Tom Power lived in a remote cabin in the Galiuro Mountains of Arizona with their father, Thomas J. Power. Graham County Sheriff Robert McBride, deputies Martin Kempton and Kane Wootan, and U.S. Deputy Marshal Frank Hayes attempted to arrest the sons for draft evasion during World War I. A shootout ensued, killing McBride, Kempton, and Wootan as well as the senior Power. The sons spent forty-two years in the state prison before they were paroled in 1960.
