Wendy Watson was born on July 7, 1942. She earned her B.A. degree from Bryn Mawr College in 1964. She is the daughter of Aldren Watson and Nancy Dingham Watson and sister of Clyde Watson, all noted children's books authors and illustrators. Wendy Watson has been a freelance illustrator and author of children's books since 1958 when her first book Very Important Cat was published when she was 16. She has illustrated books for many authors, including her sister Clyde Watson, Anne Pelowski, John Bierhorst and Ogden Nash.
