Ewart Gladstone Plank (b. Nov. 4, 1897, Garden City, Mo.; d. Sept. 2, 1982) received his commission in the Coast Artillery Corps from West Point in 1920. He advanced through the ranks to brigadier general in February 1944 and was commanding general of the Base Section in the Philippine Islands in 1945 and 1946. He reached the rank of major general in June 1945. He retired from Army service in May 1949.
