Wayne, Harley, 1823-1862.
A New York native, Wayne moved to McHenry County, Illinois in 1843 where he was a teacher, storekeeper, postmaster, merchant, and real estate dealer. He married Ellen Deitz on April 30, 1848. Charles Harley Wayne (b. 1855) was their only surviving child. Wayne was mustered in as captain of Company D, 15th Illinois Infantry on May 24, 1861. He was killed at the Battle of Shiloh, Tennessee on April 6, 1862.
