Hide Profile

James A. Carter married Julia Stuart March 30, 1896. The couple had three children: a daughter, James Lois Carter, born April 22, 1899; and two sons, Joseph Edgar Carter, born October 2, 1902, and Randall Carter. Edgar and Randall Carter at one time were the operators of Carter's Café in Carbondale, a café frequented by university students. After her husband died in 1910, Julia Carter moved into the home of Professor French and his wife at 910 South University Avenue, Carbondale. On August 11, 1918, she was married to Ezekiel J. Ingersoll, who died in 1925; and sometime later, apparently between 1930 and 1934, she was married to a Mr. Hale of Carbondale.
