Robert Sauer was born on 3 October 1872 in Rommenean, Germany. He was a composer and band master, and worked as a professor of music at Brigham Young University from 1920 until 1944. He is best known as the composer of "Spring Time in the Rockies." Professor Sauer died on 5 June 1944.
