John G.K. Truair (1817-1889) was a partner in J.G.K. Truair and Company and the Daily Journal office in Syracuse, N.Y. George G. Truair (1842-1888), son of J.G.K. Truair, served in the Civil War with the 137th and 149th New York volunteer regiments.

George C. Truair was mustered in central New York and saw action at Chancellorsville, Gettysburg, Vicksburg, and Chickamauga. He also served during the Chattanooga Campaign, the Battle of Lookout Mountain, the Atlanta Campaign, and Sherman's march to the sea.
