Murphey, John W., 1898-1977.
Real estate developer and civic leader; Murphey built more than 1,000 homes, hotels and inns in Tucson, much of it in the Catalina Foothills area. He built and managed Catalina Foothills Estates, Broadway Village Shopping Center, and helped build the Arizona Historical Society. He operated two ranches, one near Silver City, N.M., and the U Circle Ranch near Oracle, Ariz.
