Henry Gugler was born near Stuttgart, Germany, and later immigrated to the United States. His son, Julius Gugler, moved to Milwaukee in 1869 and worked for Seifert and Lawton, Lithographers. Henry Gugler joined his son in Milwaukee in the early 1870s and the firm became Seifert, Gugler and Company. In 1878 the firm became H. Gugler and Sons. In 1883 the firm became Gugler Lithographic Company.
