The Manufacturers Contracting Company was organized at Newark, N.J. in 1895 by William H. Fenn, Jr., and Irénée du Pont. The firm relocated to Wilmington, Del. in 1903, and T. Coleman du Pont, Pierre S. du Pont, and W. E. Stover became major stockholders. It constructed buildings for E.I. du Pont de Nemours & Co. in the Wilmington area and elsewhere, along with some outside work. Fenn, a civil engineer, was in charge of the projects and was president from 1895 to his retirement in 1936.
