Edwards family.
The Edwards family of Sayville includes James Morris Edwards (b.1808) and his sons David M. Edwards, Caleb M. Edwards and John S. Edwards. All the sons were seafarers, captains or masters of coastal schooners. Caleb (1842-1872) died in a shipwreck of which John was the only survivor. John later became postmaster and a bayman in Sayville; David became a store owner and a dealer in wood and coal.
