Prominent Cleveland trial lawyer who entered Democratic Party politics. He attained the positions of assistant city solicitor under Newton D. Baker, president of the Cuyahoga County Bar Association, and Assistant Secretary of State of the U.S. under President Franklin Roosevelt. He was also active in Cleveland's Czech community and in the Alumni Association of Western Reserve University.
