Machtinger, Sophie.
Sophie Machtinger is a native of Lodz, Poland, and a surivivor oft he Holocaust. She was forced into the Lodz ghetto early in its existence and was later deported to Auschwitz when the ghetto was liquidated. Machtinger was liberated at Dresden, Germany, while working in a munitions factory.
