In 1935, the Farm Chemurgic Council organized the first Dearborn Conference of Agriculture, Industry and Science, at Dearborn, Michigan. Hosted by Henry Ford, it was attended by about 300 leaders of industry to explore ways of using agricultural crops in non-food industrial products. A paper by R.H. McCarroll of the Ford Motor Co. discusses soybeans extensively, and is the earliest document seen that talks about both chemurgy and soybeans.
