This document is a transcription of a talk given by Marion Scranton Isaacs about the mansion at #4 Ridge Row, Scranton, Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania now known as "The Scranton Estate" and part of the University of Scranton. Her great grandfather, Joseph Hand Scranton, built the home during 1867-1870. The architect was Russell Sturgis of New York. Her presentation includes much about the house itself, her ancestors who inhabited it, and information on the Scranton area during the time her family lived there.
