Henkel, P. C. (Polycarp Cyprian), 1820-1889.
P. C. (Polycarp Cyprian) Henkel (1820-1889), Lutheran minister and son of Reverend David Henkel, was born in Lincoln County, N.C. He entered the ministry in 1843, under the Tennessee Synod, and served for 46 years as Lutheran pastor, missionary, organizer, and educator. He was one of the founders of Concordia College at Conover, N.C., and became its first president in 1878.
