Robert M. Cannon was chief of the Joint United States Military Advisory Group in the Philippines during the 1950's.

Cannon, know as "Joe" to his friends, was a career officer in the U.S. Army. A graduate of West Point, he retired a three-star general in 1961 and went into banking. He received numerous honors and awards after having served in and held positions in the Pacific and Far East theaters during, prior to, and following World War II.

Robert Mylchrist Cannon (b. Aug. 16, 1901, Salt Lake City, Utah-d. Sept. 3, 1976), Lieutenant General in the U.S. Army, graduated from West Point in 1925. During World War II, he served as chief of staff, China-Burma-India Theater of Operations and commanding general of XXXII Corps Artillery. Assignments after the War included Deputy Commander in Chief, U.S. Army Pacific from 1959 to 1961. He retired from Army service in August 1961.
