Boston Urban Gardeners
Variant namesBoston Urban Gardeners began in 1976 as a voluntary association of community leaders and garden organizers from the South End and Jamaica Plain sections of Boston, and from Roxbury. It quickly grew into a staffed organization with a number of funding sources. BUG served as an advocate and resource for and worked on a variety of projects with people in low income communities throughout the Boston area. BUG also worked with the Boston Housing Authority, and other government and community organizations.
