Douglas Porter (1926-1991) was an educator at the Computer Medicine Laboratory at the Beth Israel Hospital specializing in the development of computer applications in health care. Porter received his Doctor of Education degree from Harvard in 1961. From 1957 to 1962, Porter worked as an Instructor in Education at Harvard; from 1962 to 1965, Porter was an Assistant Professor of Education and Research Assistant to the University Committee on Programmed Instruction at the Harvard Graduate School of Education; and from 1965 to 1971, Porter served as Lecturer on Education and Director of the Office of Programmed Instruction. In 1972, Porter became affiliated with the Beth Israel Hospital.
