Bixby, George H. (George Holmes), ca. 1838-fl. 1900.

Bixby studied medicine at Dartmouth College and served as the chief physician in charge of the Union hospital ship Red Rover, operating on the western rivers during the Civil War. Afterwards he settled in Boston and was surgeon at St. Elizabeth's Hospital for Women.
