Printmaker John C. Menihan (1908-1992) started designing and illustrating while he was still in high school. In the 1930's he drew portraits for various Rochester news publications. In 1934 he traveled to Zena, New York to study under lithographer Bolton Brown. His work was later exhibited at the Los Angeles Museum of Fine Art, Albright Art Gallery, and 1939 World's Fair. Menihan also won four First Prizes in the 1947 Finger Lakes Exhibition in Rochester. He later taught at the University of Rochester and created portraits, murals, and stained glass windows for various Rochester locations.
