Eastman, Ahira G.

In 1835 Eastman moved to Michigan from N.Y. (State) to work as a lawyer in Adrian (Mich.). Eastman served in the Mexican War, but had to resign due to ill health before fighting. He served as a Representative from Lenawee County (1845). Eastman died in Breedsville (Van Buren County, Mich.) (Information from Michigan Biographies, v. 1, p. 263.) Mason served as Secretary; Acting Governor, 1831-1835; and Governor of the Territory of Michigan, 1835-1840. (For further information see Michigan Biographies, v. II, p.84.).
